Malcolm joined Russam in April 2018 following 25 years’ experience of interim management. He established Interregna in 1998 to supply senior interim managers and directors, both in UK and overseas, following several years as a successful interim manager specialising in turnaround situations and the restructuring of companies experiencing major change.
Malcolm has also led the development of the Interim Management Association, where he was an Executive Member for six years. As a qualified accountant and former finance director, Malcolm’s experience puts him a strong position to understand clients’ needs and culture, so as to find the best match for each appointment.
In 1990, as the first CFO of the Vestey Group, Malcolm negotiated a three-year standstill on £400m of debt with 70 banks. At Diageo/Grand Metropolitan, he was Finance Director of Justerini & Brooks and also advised on major brand acquisitions.
After gaining a first class degree in agricultural economics from London University, he joined PricewaterhouseCoopers and was responsible for major consulting assignments, before moving to Brooke Bond as Divisional Controller of their African tea plantations and livestock interests.
Malcolm is a Vice-Patron of the Tutu Foundation UK, having been one of the founding Trustees in 2007. Malcolm’s interests include most sports, hill walking, travel and writing.
