The Organisation

Russam are delighted to be working with Make-A-Wish Foundation children’s charity.

Role & Responsibilities

They have an immediate requirement for an Interim Operations Director who will provide a strategic and operational lead on all aspects of operations to ensure the organisation is able to successfully execute its plans.

As Interim Director of Operations you will:

Work on strategy and planning, operational execution, and leadership by:

  • Leading on the development of a planning framework that provides the basis for agility and successful execution aligned to the core KPIs of the organisation
  • Ensuring trustees are sufficiently engaged with and informed about the successful execution of the strategic plan
  • Strengthening organisational performance management and reporting framework to enable clear visibility of delivery against operational plans.
  • Strengthening a culture of accountability based upon clarity and management of performance vs KPIs and objectives
  • Working alongside the CEO to strengthen leadership capability in the successful execution of operational plans
  • Ensuring processes are embedded that provide the basis for efficiency and impact from the existing employee led Wishgranting model and for the scalability of a new, community led, target operating model

The Desired Applicant

A highly experienced interim at this level and you will:

  • Have experience of leading and developing planning processes across an  organisation
  • Think strategically and analytically
  • Have great planning and organisational skills and be disciplined in overseeing and managing decisions or projects
  • Be able to make data-based decisions and plans
  • Have significant senior leadership experience, including being the organisational lead for operations
  • Be led by the needs of the Wish Child in all you do and make decisions as close to the child as possible. Wherever possible be the child
  • Have practical understanding of Make-A-Wish values: Be Magical, Be Inclusive and Be Inspiring
  • Embed the principles of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion within their role

This will be a 6-month contract mainly home-based but with the need to come to the Reading hub for organisational meetings and events.
