The Organisation
Russam is working with a specialist medical equipment manufacturing company based in the East of England.
The Role
We need an experienced operational leader to undertake a review of the operational set up and current situation of the plant. The focus is on getting the operation, which has been working at 60% to 80% budget up to 100% quickly - so rapid improvement.
It will involve 2-3 weeks looking at everything and working closely with the ops director and CEO; and then coming up with a remedial plan for delivering the change so that fast improvements can be made to production.
Key is the focus on getting the operation, which has been working at 60% - 80% budget, up to 100% urgently. Other key elements of the role include:
• Establishing what needs to be done in the short term – identifying what is working well and what is not working well
• Support the current Ops Director and team; collaborating and injecting new ideas
• Creating a sustainable improvement plan alongside the current and future sales order book; this will include options for increasing shift patterns and other ways to increase capacity in the plant
• Operations optimisation of assets (personnel)
• The role is full-time (5 days a week) and based on site; perhaps more flex after the initial review period. Likely "outside IR35" interim role.
The Desired Applicant
This is a hands-on leadership role reporting directly to the CEO. Interested applicants need to demonstrate a track record of operational improvement in a senior level in a manufacturing environment and specifically generation of a robust forward plan in a manufacturing environment. If your background is consulting it must have been substantially in the manufacturing/engineering sector. Also:

• We are most likely looking for someone with a mechanical engineering background or equivalent
• Bringing significant of experience of implementing lean and developing a sustainable continuous improvement culture in organisations
