Interim Financial Controller

Location: Within commuting distance of Liverpool
Contract: Interim assignment
Travel: Regular UK and European travel required

1. The Organisation

Our client is an established international manufacturing business with operations across the UK and Europe. They are seeking a hands-on Interim Financial Controller to support a portfolio of international entities and provide strong financial management, reporting and operational finance support.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role will suit an experienced industrial or manufacturing Financial Controller who is comfortable working in a multi-site environment and partnering closely with operational teams. The successful candidate will ideally be based within a realistic commuting distance of Liverpool, with flexibility to travel across the UK and Europe as required.

2. Roles & Responsibilities

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading monthly financial close and management reporting across multiple entities.
• Producing financial analysis, variance reporting and performance insights.
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and business planning.
• Partnering with operational leaders to improve commercial and financial performance.
• Monitoring profitability, cash flow, working capital and key financial KPIs.
• Maintaining strong financial controls and supporting audit activity.
• Driving improvements to finance processes, reporting and ERP/BI systems.
• Building effective relationships with finance and operational teams across international locations.
• Providing practical, hands-on support to improve the quality, consistency and timeliness of financial information.

3. The Desired Candidate

The successful candidate will be an experienced Financial Controller, Plant Controller, Finance Manager or Senior Finance Manager with a strong background in manufacturing, industrial or multi-site environments.

You will offer:

• Proven experience in financial control, management accounting or operational finance.
• Experience within manufacturing, industrial, engineering, distribution or another multi-site environment.
• Strong reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis skills.
• Good technical accounting knowledge and a clear understanding of financial controls.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience using ERP systems.
• Power BI experience would be advantageous.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work closely with operational leaders.
• A proactive, hands-on approach to improving finance processes and controls.
• Fluent English; French language skills would be beneficial but are not essential.
• Eligibility to work in the UK.
• Based within commuting distance of Liverpool, with flexibility to travel within the UK and Europe.
