The Organisation
Our client is an established engineering and technology business that designs and develops specialist electronic products.
The organisation is seeking an experienced Interim R&D / Technical Manager to provide immediate leadership to its technical function, strengthen product-development processes and support the delivery of current and future products.
The Role
Reporting to the senior leadership team, the Interim R&D / Technical Manager will lead a small technical team and oversee products from specification and design through to prototyping, testing and manufacture.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing the current development pipeline and setting clear priorities.
- Leading and supporting engineers and technicians.
- Strengthening engineering processes, documentation and project controls.
- Managing suppliers, manufacturing partners and external specialists.
- Supporting NPI, design for manufacture and the resolution of technical or quality issues.
- Providing clear progress reporting to senior stakeholders.
The Desired Candidate
The successful candidate will be an experienced interim engineering, R&D or technical leader with a strong background in electronic product development.
You will bring:
- Experience of electronic or embedded hardware development.
- A practical understanding of PCB design, schematics, prototyping and testing.
- Experience taking products from concept through to manufacture.
- Strong team leadership and supplier-management capability.
- The ability to introduce structure while remaining hands-on and delivery focused.
Experience in batteries, charging products, power electronics or portable electronic equipment would be advantageous.
The successful candidate must be able to work regularly on-site in Ashford and be available to start at short notice.
