Supporting HSBC & Capgemini with programme leadership

Supporting professional services firm Capgemini with delivery of interim experts into their client HSBC. Russam are highly experienced in terms of working with clients on a “B2B2B” basis.

The Situation

In preparation for the new GDPR regulations, it became apparent that HSBC had licensing issues with various software. Some tools were unaccounted for, unlicensed or licenses were in place that were not required. It was recognised that huge cost savings could be made, in the region of £50 million.

The Solution

Russam worked with HSBC and Capgemini leadership to understand the specialist skills needed for the delivery of the project. Two key roles were identified and appointed:

• Interim Programme Manager – Software Licences
• Interim Data Protection/Cyber Security Lead

Results

The software licence programme was set up efficiently and delivered anticipated cost savings. It also established an up to date SAM (software asset management) tool for HSBC to prevent future licensing contract breaches.

The team and interims received praise and thanks and were appointed to support the programme post-delivery for a further six months.
