Matthew was the Global Managing Partner of the leading international law firm, Clifford Chance, from 2014-2022 having spent nearly 40 years with the firm.

Matthew is currently an independent governor on the Board of Governors at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. During Matthew’s leadership of Clifford Chance, he played an integral role in building and leading the firm’s commitment to diversity and inclusion with the introduction of their Global DE&I strategy in 2019. Matthew has also championed diversity and inclusion in the wider legal sector, as well as in business in the UK as a member of the Institute of Director’s commission into diversity and inclusion.
