How Interim Operations Manager John Gobbi Improved Operations at Fujifilm
Russam is pleased to highlight the impact of John Gobbi, who supported Fujifilm Chemicals as Interim Transition Operations Manager.
John was appointed to improve operations at a Tier 1 COMAH site specialising in ultra-pure chemical manufacturing. His priorities included addressing health and safety concerns while improving output, employee morale and overall performance.
Strengthening health and safety
John’s work helped Fujifilmc Chemicals satisfy the HSE compliance notice within six weeks, with all open HSE issues closed within two months. Internal non-conformances fell from 22 to 2, overdue audit actions reduced from 22 to 2, and good catches increased by 60%.
Increasing output and improving operations
Average daily output rose by 30% in John’s first three months, compared with the previous three-month period. The assignment also brought improvements in on-time delivery, quality, employee satisfaction, stock levels and adherence to plan. Customer complaints fell, while customer satisfaction improved.
John introduced Lean manufacturing techniques to support these changes, including 5S, waste reduction, root cause analysis and daily SQDIP meetings. He also improved communication across the site.
By the end of the assignment, profitability and sales had increased by more than 20% compared with the previous six months.
John’s assignment shows how experienced interim operations leadership can help a manufacturing business address immediate challenges while improving safety, output and performance.
