International day for the elimination of racial discrimination
21st March is the INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE ELIMINATION OF RACIAL DISCRIMINATION
In 1966 the United Nations declared the first Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination to commemorate those who had been killed on 21 March 1960, whilst peacefully protesting the Apartheid pass laws in South Africa.
