The Organisation:

Our client is a growth medical devices company and they need an Interim Warehouse and Planning Consultant to help with a few important projects across multiple sites.

The role might last 2-3 months from the first week of January 2026 (perhaps even sooner); and will involve optimising storage, inventory, and distribution by analysing operations, redesigning layouts, integrating technology, improving workflows, and planning for future growth to boost efficiency, cut costs, and increase productivity.

Role & Responsibilities:

Analysis & Assessment: Deep dives into current operations, identifying bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement (e.g., space utilization, picking paths, inventory accuracy).
Layout & Design: Designing or reconfiguring physical spaces, including racking, shelving, and material flow, for optimal space use and traffic patterns.

Process Improvement: Re-engineering core processes like receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping to boost speed and reduce errors.

Technology Integration: Recommending and implementing Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), automation, and other tech to support goals.

Inventory Management: Optimizing stock levels, locations, and control to reduce holding costs and improve fulfillment.

Labor & Staffing: Developing strategies for right-sizing teams, improving training, and managing peak season demands.

Strategic Planning: Aligning warehouse operations with overall business goals, considering future growth, new markets, and sustainability.

The Desired Candidate:

•    Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in WMS/ERP systems, data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI), and analytical software like SQL or Excel.
•    Planning Knowledge: Deep understanding of Materials Requirement Planning (MRP), inventory optimization, and supply chain network design.
•    Soft Skills: Strong project management, commercial awareness, and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
•    Qualifications: Relevant in areas such as Supply Chain, Logistics, or Engineering. Professional certifications like APICS CPIM/CSCP or Lean Six Sigma are desirable.
